Le riche patron de firme automobile DODSWORTH décide de prendre sa retraite et de voyager aux côtés de sa femme, nettement plus jeune que lui. En route pour Londres par bateau, elle se laisse courtiser par son Capitaine. Se sentant encore séduisante, elle se détache de son mari pour vivre des aventures tandis que son mari l'aime toujours et revient à elle dès qu'elle en a besoin...
