RESUME, AVIS

Dans l'Angleterre du XVIIIe siècle, DIDO est une fille métisse issue d'une relation illégitime entre son père amiral de la Marine Royale et une esclave noire. Parti à la guerre, le père confie sa fille à son oncle LORD MANSFIELD, président de la Haute Cour de justice. Il l'élève mais sa couleur ne l'autorise pas à paraître devant les invités du grand monde. Cependant, afin de préserver le rang de sa famille, DIDO devenue unique héritière à l'âge adulte, doit épouser un riche parti du clan ASHFORD.
